India–Israel Joint Declaration on Fisheries and Aquaculture

Context: India and Israel signed a Joint Ministerial Declaration of Intent to deepen cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture at the Global Summit on Blue Food Security 2026 held in Eilat, Israel.


Nature: A bilateral framework to strengthen cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture through technology transfer, joint research, innovation, and capacity building, aligned with sustainable and climate-resilient development.

Advanced Aquaculture Technologies: Collaboration on Recirculatory Aquaculture Systems RAS, biofloc technology, cage culture, aquaponics, mariculture, seaweed farming, and aquarium systems.

Genetic and Seed Improvement: Joint initiatives for high-yield species, pathogen-free seed, broodstock development, and genetic enhancement programmes.

Water and Resource Efficiency: Adoption of Israeli water-saving and advanced water-management technologies to improve aquaculture efficiency.

Innovation and Startups: Promotion of startups, innovation ecosystems, and R and D collaboration to strengthen the Blue Economy.

Monitoring and Traceability: Deployment of technology-driven monitoring, data systems, transparency, and traceability tools for responsible and sustainable fishing.

Capacity Building: Training in deep-sea fishing, vessel design, coastal aquaculture, fish processing, marketing, and development of harbours and fish landing centres.
