Union Minister launched Navachar Mantra at IIT Delhi, a nationwide platform aimed at discovering, nurturing, and scaling grassroots innovations from Tier-2, Tier-3, and rural India by creating stronger linkages among local innovators, mentors, and institutions.

What is the programme?
  • Navachar Mantra is a national-level innovation promotion and enterprise development initiative designed to empower grassroots inventors, aspiring entrepreneurs, and emerging startups through incubation, mentoring, and market-enablement support.
  • It seeks to transform locally developed solutions addressing community challenges into sustainable and scalable business ventures with wider socioeconomic impact.
  • Nodal ministry: Implemented under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.
  • Executing agency: Managed by the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD).
Major components

Beneficiary focus

  • Open to Indian citizens between 18 and 55 years of age, particularly those residing in aspirational districts, rural regions, and emerging urban centers.

Inclusive entry framework

  • Applicants are not required to possess a registered company or a commercially launched product.
  • Innovative ideas at the concept, testing, or prototype stage are eligible for participation.

Comprehensive mentorship cycle

  • Selected participants receive a structured 12-month handholding programme comprising expert mentoring, business planning assistance, IP awareness, regulatory support, and investment readiness training.

National outreach and recognition

  • Innovators gain access to dedicated promotional platforms including innovation showcases, policy dialogues, digital campaigns, and interaction opportunities with industry leaders and investors.

Selection process

  • Applications can be submitted through the online portal until July 5, 2026, after which shortlisted candidates will undergo multiple stages of evaluation by domain experts.
