What is PAN?
A 10-character alphanumeric identifier issued by the Income Tax Department. It can be applied for or allocated automatically by the department. -
Purpose:
PAN links all financial and tax-related activities of an individual or entity, including:- Tax payments
- TDS/TCS credits
- Filing of income tax returns
- Specific high-value transactions
- Official communications
